Assam University was established in the year 1994. It is a teaching cum affiliating central University. The university has become a global and excellent learning center situated in Dargakona district. There are around 16 schools affiliated to the university having 35 departments under them. These schools offer social life sciences, humanities, languages, life sciences, information sciences, Technology and Management etc.
In five districts under the jurisdiction of Assam University there are around 56 undergraduate colleges. Assam University conducts semester wise exams for different courses in the months of May-June, Dec-Jan. Results of these exams are declared one or two month after the completion of exams.
