The Indira Gandhi National Open University has published the notification for Ignou MBA Banking and Finance admission July 2017. The university offers admission to this distance management programme in collaboration with IIBF twice in a year. i.e during January and July sessions.

This programme has been specifically designed and developed by School of Management Studies, IGNOU for Banking and finance sector. There are many bank employees who desire to enhance their management skills and do higher studies.

It’s a great opportunity for all these MBA aspirants to do the studies in the same field in which they are working via distance learning mode of education.

As a result of MOU between IGNOU and Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF), Mumbai, the university launched the MBA Banking and Finance programme a few years ago. The main objective behind to start this management programme is to provide the members of IIBF an opportunity to pursue post-graduate qualification.

The banking fraternity felt the need to enhance the managerial skills and capability of their employees. So, they collaborated with Indira Gandhi National Open University to provide this great opportunity to their employees. The MBA (B&F) admission is offered to the learners through countrywide network of Study Centres of IGNOU.

Programme Duration:

The MBA Banking and Finance is a two and half year professional master degree programme in management with the specialisation in Banking and Finance. The maximum duration allowed by the university to complete all the required courses of this programme is eight years.

If the student is unable to complete all the required courses within the maximum duration, then he/ she has to apply for re-admission.




IGNOU MBA Banking and Finance Fee Structure:

In this programme, the students have to pay the fee per course for all the semesters. The fee per course is Rs.1500/-. It means if the student has to study 4 courses in the first semester, then he or she has to pay the total of Rs.1500/- x 4 = Rs.6000/- as a fee during admission.

The applicants can pay the fee through a Bank Demand Draft which has to be made in favour of IGNOU, payable at the city of your Regional Centre. It should be noted that the course fee does not include the examination.

It has to be paid separately while filling up the exam form. It is advised to mention your Name and 9 digit enrollment number on the reverse side of Demand Draft. It will ensure the proper credit of fee to your fee account.

In the case, the candidate is unable to pay the fee via demand draft, he or she has another option to pay the Course fee through bank challan at the designated Indian Bank and IDBI Bank branches given in Appendix-11 of the prospectus. There will be two copies of challan.

The “University’s copy” should be submitted to the Regional Centre along with Admission/Re-registration form.

Note: It should be noted that the fee once paid will not be refunded back under any circumstances. It is also not adjustable against any other programme of this university.

Important Dates:

  • The candidates can request for Student Handbook/ Prospectus by post till 31st May 2017
  • The last date of submission of application form to the concerned Ignou Regional Centre is 30th June 2017




Eligibility Criteria:

To apply for IGNOU MBA Banking and Finance Admission 2017, the candidates should follow certain eligibility conditions. The eligibility criteria has been mentioned below:

  • The candidate must possess the graduation degree of not less than 3 years duration from a recognised University/Institution,
  • In addition to the graduation degree, the candidate must have also passed the CAIIB examinations of the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance, Mumbai. He should have been awarded the requisite qualification/credentials thereof by the Institute, and
  • The last and most important eligibility condition is that the candidate must have been working in the Banking or Financial Services Sector for a period of at least two years.

IGNOU MBA Banking and Finance Admission Procedure:

The candidates who wish to apply for MBA Banking and Finance admission must obtain the latest Student Handbook & Prospectus from the Director, Student Service Centre (SSC), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-110068.

It can also be obtained from the nearest IGNOU Regional Centres. The MBA Banking and finance prospectus can be either obtained by paying the sum of Rs.1000/- in cash or the candidates can also request it by post by sending a Demand Draft of Rs.1050/-.

The DD has to be made in favour of ‘IGNOU’ payable at the city from where the Prospectus is requested. In the case of requesting the prospectus via post, it is requested to all the applicants to write their name, address, and text ‘MPB’ on the backside of Demand Draft.

After obtaining the prospectus, please cut out the MBA (B&F) application form which is available at the page no. 115 of the prospectus. In the case of candidate downloading the prospectus from the official website, they have to submit the application form along with a Demand Draft of Rs.1000/-, in addition to the Programme fee.
