All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental test is an undergraduate medical entrance test in India conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Examination Delhi. AIPMT is an annual test conduct every year. Main objective of this exam is to allow candidates to take admission to MBBS and BDS courses in various colleges across India. Till 2006 AIPMT used to be the only test which was equal for everyone i.e. there was no reservation in this exam but from 2006 under pressure from the Human Resources Ministry reservation for SC, ST and OBC has been introduced.

Eligibility: At the time of filling AIPMT exam form candidate must fulfill the following minimum eligibility requirements:

Applicant must be at least 17 years old as on December 31, 2016. For general the age limit is 25 years and for SC / ST / OBC category candidates it is 30 years. Candidates must be having Indian citizenship. The candidate must have passed or appearing for 10+2 exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology mathematics. An aggregate of at least 50% marks is required in the qualifying exam 45% (General PH), 40% for SC, ST, and OBC.

Exam Pattern: The paper comprises of 180 questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology) which are of multiple choice type with single correct answer.Paper is available in both the languages English and Hindi depending upon the choice of candidate opted in the form. AIPMT is a pen paper based 3 hours duration exam. Candidate is awarded with4 marks for every correct answer and 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. There has occurred frequent changes in the exam pattern during last 4-5 years. In 2010 AIPMT was a two-tier test AIPMT prelims and AIPMT mains. In 2013 pattern was changed again two-tier examination was replaced by National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. Now In 2016 the exam will be conducted in a single stage that usually occurs on the first Sunday of May.

There has been a decrement in the no. of candidates appearing for the examination. In 2014 around 523,701 candidates appeared for the exam which has reduced to 374,386 in the year 2015. One reason for this gradual decrement may be its bilingualness i.e. the paper is conducted in two languages only Hindi and English making it harder for candidates from regions like Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana etc.

In 2016 exam is going to be conducted on May 1. So be ready to achieve your aim. Prepare well and let your dream come true. Hoping this article of mine will help you a little to get the necessary information about eligibility, exam pattern etc. required to appear for AIPMT 2016.
