This Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University has been established in the year 1973 and is located at Srinagar in Uttrakhand, India. It was earlier known as Garhwal University.
The university was renamed to Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in 1989 in the memory of Hemwati Nandan Bahugua, the son of the soil and the leading statesman of the country.
Later it was established as a central university. It is a Public, residential and affiliating University which has jurisdiction over Garhwal district of the region. It has been providing affiliation to more than 180 colleges and institutes all over the state.
